Review of all Reporting Categories

Tomorrow we will review all reporting categories and discuss the readiness standards and question breakdown for the test. Tomorrow is our official last day for review, then Friday will be and "In the Park" day for informal reviewing. Our first assignment can be found here:

The Agenda & Category for Tomorrow: Category #3

Just a reminder that this week will be review for the STAAR, so please bring your "A-Game." Today was a GREAT DAY for most students. I was pumped to see who came ready to play from the start of class to the end of class. I was pumped and want to thank everyone that came to the front to show how to solve each problem. Some of us already missed out on last years test and will tell you it's not easy to get out of the swamp you feel you're in. Don't get behind, it's hard to catch up! Two math tests next year is scary!

Today we discussed  Reporting Category #4, which will have the most questions on the test, along with the Readiness Standards which make up 65% of the questions asked from each category. We practiced for a block questions related to the Category and saw many great examples from our peers. I hope you learned from their knowledge and owned it!

For tomorrow we will focus on Reporting Category #3: Dimensionality and the Geometry of Location.

STAAR Review & Small Victories

Tuesday: #33-59,  Wednesday #16-32

We begin at #33-59 because it has the most questions on the test and is 2 questions shy, according to TEA blueprint layouts for the minimum passing rate at the acceptable levels.  Win this section and you nearly win it all! Plenty of easy ones after to secure a much greater victory! The second day we will close "loose ends" on remaining readiness standards.

Tomorrow I will upload the overall breakdown for the STAAR EOC test so you may see it again. We will again discuss the breakdown, look at the standards (Readiness & Supporting) and together realize how far we have come. We will discuss which standards are MOST important, how they may be shown and fix what you may have forgotten.

Good luck & learn! Tomorrow is always a better day. Improve yourself to learn and pass! Improve yourself and learn the challenge of beating bad habits. Learn how to grow yourself through will power. All you have to do is set goals & deadlines for the goals. Another great way to achieve is to set small goals for yourself. Build your brain to achieve through small victories. Begin the experiment by reviewing 2  problems from the day or from previous lessons, open the door for people, pick up some trash, tell someone they are appreciated; do it often for a more supportive world around you, which builds you and your character. Small victories build character and a better world. Good Luck!!

Here is the Boardwork for the Day. First: Go to the following website or use your Geometry Book, draw an example for each part of the circle accompanied with a short definition.

1. If 58 people out of 223 will go to Fiesta today:
    a) what is the central angle for the sector of people that will not go (assume a radius of 7)?
    b) what is the length of the minor arc?
    c) what is the length of the major arc?
    d)  what is the area for the sector of people that will attend?
    e)  what is the probability that a person will not attend Fiesta?

2. A circular ice skating rink has an area of 17,671 inches squared.
    a) what is the measure of the rink's diameter?
    b) what is the measure of the rink's area in feet squared?

Review Day & Fun Day

OK, lets split the difference...Review a bit and have fun a bit, pay half & we will pay half plus bus fare. 10th Grade Academy, if you want to go on a field trip with us next Tuesday and Wednesday you need to RSVP with $5 no later than Monday. We plan on STAAR Studying and HAVING A BLAST!!! Who wants to Go Kart, Mini Golf, Ultimate Frisbee and smack a Golf Ball?! We do!!! Join Us!!! We have raised enough money so you get travel and these experiences for only $5.

ATTN: You may want to bring more money for food, drink and any additional costs related to your choices at each location. Lunch is guaranteed both days at school, but we will not be at school during lunch time on Tuesday; You will have to choose to bring or purchase food on Tuesday, but please know we will be on campus for lunch on Wednesday as normal amidst activities.

Friends, the time has come. In 18 days you may have another STAAR test. We will inform you regarding which test, which day and all times soon. Know for now this is the time to figure it out, regardless of the subject. Me, Ms. V, Ms. O, Ms Ramos, Mr. U.  We, your teachers, your Admin are here for you! Tutoring times are mentioned and in our classroom posted. We have faith in those that commit and give even the slightest efforts to learning the concepts. We have little faith & time for apathy and inefficiency. Help Us help You!

End of the 3rd Quarter

MATH:
We are at the end, you have been reminded so many times, been given so many opportunities for make-up, tutoring, you-name-it. You have your many progress reports, you have your assignments, you know when we are available for small groups and 1-on-1. This is it! Good Luck in Math!

SPANISH:
Just a reminder that you are enrolled in a Spanish Class. I remind a lot of you each day to get on and do the assignments you have not completed. At times I generate personal reports for some and for all others print a list and hang it in the back of my classroom showing missing assignments. Next up, final progress reports; they will be available tomorrow should you seek me out. Just a reminder, you might want to turn those O's to A's.
